A Vital Resource for Uniondale

Establishing a Community Center: Securing a Home for Uniondale

Since its 1986 establishment, the John J. Byrne Community Center has been an essential Uniondale resource, supporting numerous organizations. Through collaborations with community groups and businesses, we’ve significantly enriched Uniondale residents’ lives.

A Hub of Activity: Programs, Events, and Community Engagement at the John J. Byrne Community Center

Within four years of inception, we secured a home for our activities, hosting civic meetings, a youth summer camp, and an annual cookout. These events attracted attention from prominent political figures including Governor George Pataki, County Executive Thomas Gulotta, and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy.

Doubling Our Footprint: Expansion and Program Growth at the Uniondale Neighborhood Center

In 2007, a New York State grant enabled the Uniondale Neighborhood Center to expand, enhancing programs and adding providers: Uniondale/Roosevelt Weed and Seed Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, Energetic Enterprise Youth Community Studio, and S.T.R.O.N.G. Youth, offering neighborhood youth opportunities in music, production, and community development.

We’ve hosted varied activities like health seminars, teen workshops, community events, shows, festivals, sports, and meetings, and house the New Birth Christian Church, a 501(c)(3) organization offering spiritual services to the community.

Building for the Future: Commitment to Serving the Uniondale Community

Dedicated to addressing Uniondale’s evolving needs, we’re committed to expanding our infrastructure to remain a stabilizing force for neighborhood improvement. We envision the John J. Byrne Community Center as a vital community hub for years to come.
