Engel Burman Group, a Garden City-based real estate developer, has signed an agreement with Nassau Health Care Corporation to construct a community center and athletic fields on a part of the A Holly Patterson property in Uniondale. The project is part of a letter of commitment penned in 2008 that stipulates benefits for the community in return for the development of the 64-acre property.
The community center, which will be built for the John J. Byrne Community Center, will provide recreational, after-school, and community development programs in one physical infrastructure to help promote youth and community well-being. The athletic fields will be open to the community and will provide a space for outdoor activities.
“We are excited to partner with Engel Burman Group / Nassau Health Care Corporation to build a community center that will benefit the residents of Uniondale,” said David Greaves, President of the John J. Byrne Community Center. “This project will provide a modern, state-of-the-art facility for the community and will help promote youth development and community engagement.”
The community center is expected to include facilities such as a gymnasium, meeting rooms, classrooms, and outdoor spaces. The athletic fields will be equipped with lighting, bleachers, and other amenities to support sports and outdoor activities.
“We are committed to building a better community in Uniondale,” said a representative from Engel Burman Group. “This project is an important step towards providing the residents with the resources and facilities they need to thrive.”
The project is still in the planning phase, and the expected timeline and cost of construction are not yet clear. However, the signing of the agreement is an important milestone towards improving the quality of life for Uniondale residents.
