Fall is officially here. The leaves are changing, school routines are settling in, and pumpkin-flavored everything has returned. It is that sweet spot in the year when families get back into a rhythm and start looking for meaningful ways to use their time. If piano lessons have ever been on your list, now is the perfect season to jump in.
Here are five reasons why autumn is the ideal time to start learning to play the piano.
1. Back-to-school routines make practice easy to fit in
Most families adopt a more consistent schedule at this time of year. That makes it easier to develop healthy habits, such as regular practice. Whether your child has a quiet moment after homework or you are looking to reclaim your own creative time as a parent, piano can slide easily into the weekly routine.
2. Cooler weather means cozy, creative time indoors
As the weather turns colder and the days get shorter, we naturally spend more time indoors. Instead of turning to a screen for entertainment, why not create something beautiful right from your own living room? Piano is a perfect way to make indoor time feel warm, productive, and enriching.
3. Start now and be playing holiday music by December
Even complete beginners can learn simple versions of holiday favorites in just a couple of months. Whether you want to impress your guests, surprise your family, or play for your own enjoyment, October is the perfect time to begin. You will be surprised by what you can accomplish in a short time with consistent, one-on-one guidance.
4. Learning online is more convenient than ever
I teach live piano lessons over video call. These are not prerecorded videos or a program you have to figure out on your own. Each lesson is taught in real time, entirely personalized for the student. You do not need to drive anywhere or wait in a parking lot. You simply sit down at your keyboard, open your laptop or tablet, and we connect over video call.
It feels just like we are sitting in the same living room together. You have your piano, music, and device on your side. I have the exact same setup on mine. I can see and hear everything I need to guide your progress, give feedback, demonstrate techniques, and encourage you every step of the way.
5. One-on-one attention makes all the difference
Every student learns differently. That is why I tailor each session to the individual’s age, experience, learning goals, and personal interests. From your very first lesson, we build on your strengths and work step by step to help you grow in skill and confidence. Students of all ages tell me how surprised they are by how personal and interactive online learning can be.
Whether you live in Uniondale or across the country, piano lessons are now just a click away. I am excited to work with families through the John J. Byrne Community Center, a local space for education and enrichment. You can learn more about their community programs at www.byrncenter.org.

The journey of a thousand melodies begins with a single lesson.
