The Motown Tribute Concert held on November 22, 2014, was a milestone event for the John J. Byrne Community Center, bringing together over 250 attendees from Uniondale and beyond to celebrate the rich legacy of Motown music. Hosted in partnership with Friend Entertainment USA, the event not only entertained but also raised awareness about the center’s mission, generated funds to support vital community programs, and fostered a sense of pride and connection among residents. The Outstanding Advocates for Children & Youth Awards in 2011 and 2012 celebrated 50 honorees who exemplified exceptional civic and community support, each committing to raise a minimum of $1,000 for the John J. Byrne Community Center. These events not only recognized local leaders but also generated significant financial support to benefit vital programs for children and families in Uniondale.

The John J. Byrne Community Center’s Music and Arts Festivals, in collaboration with Napoleon Bevels-Bey of Nassau Performing Arts, and the Uniondale Community Festivals, hosted with Wolfpack United since 2017, alongside Family Fun Days, cookouts, and barbecues, have consistently brought together hundreds of community members. These events celebrate culture, music, creativity, and family fun through activities that include live performances, comedy, entertainment shows, and advocacy projects.
By providing a platform for local artists to showcase their talents and encouraging youth participation in the arts, these events not only entertain but also raise awareness about the center’s mission. Through interactive art displays, cultural programming, and community activities, they foster a sense of unity, inspire artistic expression, and generate critical support for the center’s programs.
The Uniondale Community Festival, in particular, exemplifies the power of collective effort, uniting residents, organizations, and businesses to celebrate what makes Uniondale unique.
