The John J. Byrne Community Center is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors and a passionate leadership team committed to advancing community growth, equity, and opportunity across Uniondale and beyond.

Board of Directors

David Greaves

President

With decades of leadership in community development and nonprofit management, David has guided the Center in launching initiatives like Thrive & Empower and Tomorrow's Leaders, building partnerships across schools, healthcare providers, and government agencies.

Expertise: Strategic nonprofit leadership, organizational development, public-private partnerships, and community advocacy.

Inglish Cooke

Vice President

Executive Director and Owner of Overton Academy in Uniondale, Inglish brings 15+ years in education, parent advocacy, and community engagement. Her work in the Uniondale School District has deepened ties between families, educators, and civic leaders.

Expertise: Public relations, creative arts management, event coordination, and cultural program development.

Chinyere Croft-Thornhill

Secretary

With expertise in communications, special education, civic leadership, and nonprofit governance, Chinyere ensures accurate documentation and consistent board operations. She is active in St. George's Episcopal Church and the Turtle Hook Middle School PTA.

Expertise: Communications strategy, community engagement, and governance policy implementation.

Regine M. Cayemitte

Treasurer

Founder and Owner of La Petite Kinder, Regine brings 20+ years in childcare management, business operations, and fiscal administration. Her expertise in budgeting, payroll, and compliance directly strengthens the Center's financial stewardship.

Expertise: Financial planning, business management, nonprofit accounting, and fiscal compliance oversight.

Richard T. Harris

Director

A proud Uniondale High School alumnus and a dedicated figure in the Uniondale community for over four decades, Richard has served more than 20 years with the Uniondale Fire Department and currently serves as a Commissioner on the Board of Fire Commissioners, a seat he has held since 2007. A certified EMT and first responder and a former Uniondale PAL football coach, he was honored at the Center’s 2025 Heroes in the Community Gala.

Expertise: Public safety leadership, emergency services governance, security operations, and community engagement.

Edward Moses

Director

Edward brings expertise in facilities operations, recreational program management, and sports leadership to the Byrne Center Board, supporting inclusive community resource coordination and programming for Uniondale residents.

Renee Moses

Director

Renee is dedicated to community outreach and youth empowerment, bringing expertise in volunteer management and family engagement initiatives that serve Uniondale residents.

Executive Leadership

Justin Brown

Executive Director

As Associate Director at Teachers College, Columbia University, Justin brings expertise in higher education administration, youth mentorship, and civic engagement to his leadership of the Center. He has served on boards including Minority Millennials, AHRC Nassau, and Hofstra University, bridging academia and community development.

A longtime member of the Center’s board, Justin stepped into the Executive Director role in September 2026, guiding the Center’s programs and day-to-day operations as it expands its campus and community impact.

Expertise: Education leadership, youth mentorship, workforce readiness, and civic engagement program design.
