John J. Byrne Community Center Creates Safe, Sensory-Friendly Easter Egg Hunt for Local Families

The John J. Byrne Community Center recently welcomed families from across the community for a special sensory-friendly Easter egg hunt designed to ensure that children of all abilities could participate in a joyful, inclusive holiday celebration.

Hosted in Uniondale, the event created a calm, welcoming environment where children were able to enjoy Easter festivities at their own pace. Families participated in Easter egg hunts, arts and crafts, games, and photo opportunities in a setting intentionally designed to support children with sensory sensitivities and diverse developmental needs.

At the Byrne Center, inclusion remains at the heart of every program we create. Events like this reflect our ongoing commitment to ensuring that all children and families have access to safe, affirming, and community-centered experiences.

We are honored to see this meaningful event recognized by Herald Community Newspapers for highlighting the importance of accessibility and inclusive programming in our community. The celebration served as a reminder that with thoughtful planning and compassion, community events can be welcoming for everyone.
